Nog een update over lage oliedruk
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19wCH4cJex/Another "patient" in. This customer buyed this very nice Stelvio Veloce 2.2 210 in North Italy (PN), imported it to NL but was getting the P06DD error repeatedly. Often this error is caused by a malfunction of the oil pump solenoid, but we decided to take the car for a drive with the Performance Logger plugged in to view and log the oil pressure.
Right from the start we noticed the pressure was lower than usual. We accelerated the car to the point the pump switches to high pressure mode and noticed the oil pressure was missing roughly 2 bar pressure, which is a dangerously low amount. And in the short testdrive also the infamous message "oil pressure too low" appeared on the screen. See the result of the log in the photos below.
So the customer left the car, and we will lower the subframe, remove the oil pan, remove the newly installed timing belt and pulleys, pull the oil pump out and see what is the issue. Most likely a bad pickup seal and probably also an issue with the oil pump.
Another engine disaster was about to happen if the customer continued driving this car. Thanks to the Performance Logger, a useful tool to view and datalog the oil pressure, we can now take appropriate action to get it fixed.
Our message to all Giulia/Stelvio 2.2 owners out there that have oil pressure warnings. Do not ignore these signs, if you want to know what is going on, get yourselves a Performance Logger, plug it in, and check the oil pressure. We can promiss you this tool is worth every € if you think of the damage that can occur. An engine replacement can cost you >10K € easily.
